The upcoming weekends are filled with lots of holiday fun, including several parades! Here is our list, if you know of a parade for us to include please email charlotte@myactivechild.com


Weekend of November 16-18, 2012

14th Annual Coliseum Central Holiday Parade & Santa (Hampton): Saturday, November 17, 2012 at 9:30am. Join us for great views of the entire parade as it passes through Peninsula Town Center. Santa will also be staying after the parade to visit with the kids.

Town Center of VB Presents "Light Up the Town" (Virginia Beach): Saturday, November 17, 2012 at 5pm. The parade begins at 5pm escorting Santa from Constitution Drive along Main Street to the Town Center Plaza. At 6:00 PM lights will be lit on the tree and surrounding buildings of Town Center.

28th Annual Grand Illumination Parade (Norfolk): Saturday, November 17, 2012 at 7pm. The Storybook LIVE themed parade travels down Main Street to Granby Street then north to Freemason Street crossing over to Boush Street and around to Waterside Drive. Floats, marching bands, giant balloons, dancers and Santa bring your favorite storybook characters to life.


Weekend of December 1-2, 2012

1st Annual Chick-fil-A Christmas Parade (Chesapeake) December 1, 2012 at 8:30am. The parade will be followed by a Christmas Palooza being held inside of Chesapeake Square at 10:00am. The parade route will be around Chesapeake Square on Ring Road. Spectators are encouraged to arrive early to find a good spot. 

TowneBank Holiday Parade at the Beach (Virginia Beach): Saturday, December 1, 2012 at 5:30pm. Giant balloons, marching bands, floats, dance groups, Santa and more! The Parade travels along Atlantic Avenue from 15th to 25th Street.

Chesapeake Christmas Parade (Chesapeake): Saturday, December 1, 2012 at 6pm. Marching bands, costumed characters, colorful floats, and Santa Claus will be parading from Colon Hall Mt. Pleasant to City Hall.

Yorktown Lighted Boat Parade: Saturday, December 1, 2012 at 6pm. The Yorktown waterfront is bedazzled with holiday sights and sounds, including a spectacular floating parade of lights, caroling around a roaring beach bonfire, musical performances and complimentary hot cider. 

Downtown Hampton Lighted Boat Parade: Saturday, December 1, 2012 at 7:15pm. A parade of illuminated sail and power boats will be visible anywhere along the Downtown Hampton Waterfront.


Weekend of December 7-9, 2012

2012 Annual Poquoson Holiday Parade (Poquoson): Friday, December 7, 2012 at 7pm. The Parade theme is Twas The Night Before Christmas. The parade route is Poquoson Avenue- To Wythe Creek Road to Victory Blvd.

Downtown Smithfield Annual Christmas Parade (Smithfield): Saturday, December 8, 2012 at 4pm in downtown Smithfield. A wonderful old-fashioned parade that sums up the heart of Smithfield. For further information call (757) 357-5182

Here Comes Santa Parade (Portsmouth): Saturday, December 8, 2012 at 5:30pm. The parade begins at High Street Landing where Santa arrives by FireBoat and then joins the parade in a horse drawn carriage. Parade ends at Washington Street and Santa will be available to meet with the children at Portsmouth Art & Cultural Center.

Suffolk Holiday Parade (Suffolk): Saturday, December 8, 2012 at 7pm. Floats, marching bands, dancers and equestrian groups in downtown Historic Suffolk.

Hampton Holly Days Parade (Hampton): Saturday, December 8, 2012 at 7pm. Parade themed Babes In Toyland including floats, marching bands, and Santa! Bring a toy for Toys for Tots and get a seat in the VIP section- 1 toy per 4 people.


Weekend of December 15-16, 2012

"Toyland" Parade (Yorktown): Saturday, December 15, 2012 at 1pm. Parade with Santa and Mrs. Claus and the "Riverwalk Polar Express". Feel free to join the parade.
